2013 Holiday Barbie Doll
The Holiday Barbie Doll is one of
the longest running series of collectible Barbie dolls. Since 1988,
these dolls have imagined Barbie at the center of a fantastic and
glamorous holiday event – one requiring a gown that’s unique, festive,
luxurious and stunning.
For the silver anniversary doll in the
series, it’s fitting that Barbie doll wears a silvery gown, calling to
mind the shimmering color of moonlight reflected on snow-covered fields
at the dawn of winter. The snowflake patterns falling from her dramatic
one-shoulder bodice down the length of the dress emphasize the fashion
theme.
Elegance for All Ages
Snowflake-inspired silvery earrings
peek out from underneath soft, flowing hair, completing Barbie doll’s
new holiday look. A gorgeous treat for girls, and a thoughtful gift for
adult Barbie fans, too, the 2013 Holiday Barbie Doll is a vision of
beauty from a true winter wonderland!
The Holiday Barbie Doll comes inside gift-ready packaging. Doll stand is not included.

VINE VOICE
Okay, I have to confess I am not a Barbie collector so I am no kind of
expert on the Holiday Barbies. I grew up in the 1970s playing with
Malibu Barbie and all her friends, but I never got into the collecting
of dolls. In the 1990s, I worked in retail, and the store I worked at
sold Holiday Barbies (called Happy Holidays Barbies back then, I
believe), and I remember that they were extremely hot commodities.
Dressed in elaborate, holiday-themed gowns, these dolls were packaged in
big plastic boxes made for displaying the dolls in. We could never keep
them in stock, and I remember people almost coming to blows over them. I
never bought one, but I remember seeing them at work and thinking they
were very lovely dolls with very nice looking costumes. I chose this
Holiday 2013 Barbie from the Amazon Vine program thinking it would be a
nice gift for my niece. I still plan to give it to her as her Christmas
gift, but now that I've received it in the mail, I can't help thinking
that it doesn't look as "high end" as the dolls I recall from my days in
retail. This Barbie has the face mold that I learned from internet
research is the Bob Mackie face, and it apparently has been used for the
Caucasian Holiday Barbie for several years. Her face is very "glam"
with tons of makeup (especially around the eyes) and big, plumped up red
lips. Her hair is very movie-star-looking, too: very long and wavy. She
is wearing huge sparkly silver earrings, and her dress is made of shiny
silver material overlaid with a snowflake-patterned white mesh or lace
with a peplum of silvery mesh over top of that. The box she is in is a
standard cardboard box that doesn't seem too very sturdy if she is meant
to be displayed in it for all eternity. In general, I remember the
dolls from the past having luxe-looking materials in their dresses
(velvets and such) along with rich colors suggestive of the holidays. Of
course, silver is a holiday color, too, and I get that if she is the
silver anniversary doll she should be dressed in silver. But I just feel
that the dress and box are kind of "cheap" feeling compared to what I
expected from the very limited experience I had with Holiday Barbies in
the past. While I can't speak for experts in the collectible doll world,
I can only add my opinion that the doll is very pretty but doesn't
compare too favorably with prettier Holiday Barbies that I have seen.
